Bookmarks
Bookmarks are used to select portions of text, graphics or other objects within your document so as to be easily accessible at a later date. You can also use bookmarks to create Cross References and Indexes.
To create a Bookmark follow the steps below.
- Select the text or object that you want Bookmarked.
- From the Edit menu select the Bookmark option.
- The Bookmark dialogue box opens.
- Bookmark Name Type in a name for the selected text or objects. Use a name that can be easily recognisable for that bookmark. The name can have letters, numbers and the underscore character _ (Shift + -) and can be up to 40 characters long with No spaces.
- Sort By These options allow you to sort your bookmarks alphabetically (Name) or by the order in which they appear in the document (Location).
- Once you have typed in a name for the Bookmark, click on the OK button and the Bookmark is added to the list.
- The Delete key will remove selected Bookmark names (not the text or objects selected in the document.
- The Go To button will move you to the selected Bookmark’s highlighted text or object in the document. F5 will also move to the area of a Bookmark when selected from the drop down list in the Go To dialogue box when the Bookmark option has been chosen.
Viewing Bookmarks
You can view your Bookmarks in a document by selecting Options from the Tools menu and in the View Tab selecting the option Bookmarks. This will place brackets similar to these [ ] around any Bookmarks in your document.
