Working out Percentages

Adding to a number

To figure out a percentage of a number the following formula will do this.

A1 has the amount you wish to use for the figure.

If you want the Percenatage added to your number the formula would be =A1*10%+A1.

Getting percentage from total (such as a GST where the percentage is already included in the total).

If you want to figure out 10% of your GST Price it would this formula =A1-(A1/1.10)

Another option is to also use a cell reference for the percentage so you don't have to change the formula whenever you change the percentages.

A1 has the final figure and B1 has the Percentage.

=A1-(A1/(H17+1))
